Have you forgotten your bank card and need to withdraw cash? Thanks to a new feature offered by some banks, it is now possible to withdraw money without a bank card via advanced banking applications. It is not BNP Paribas that offers this service… Discover the eligible French banks, and how this innovation facilitates the management of your finances on a daily basis.
When you realize you don’t have your bank card with you, it is still possible to pay for your purchases in cash. Modern banking applications now offer the possibility to withdraw money without needing your card. This method, although not yet available in all banks, represents a significant advancement for users. Indeed, it allows for addressing frequent situations where access to cash is essential.
This innovative feature is highlighted by SM@RT’retrait from Banque Populaire. To benefit from it, clients must activate the option with their BPCE advisor. Then, via the mobile application, they choose the account to debit, define the amount to withdraw, and select the withdrawal date. A unique number then serves as an access key for the Banque Populaire ATM, making the cardless withdrawal process simple and secure.
One might expect it to be Société Générale offering this service, but it is actually Crédit Mutuel that also provides a similar solution called e-withdrawal. After activation by an advisor, clients receive a code on their smartphone, allowing them to make a withdrawal without a bank card. This service is accessible at any time via the mobile application or the online client space on a computer. Moreover, e-withdrawal can be used by account-holding children or relatives, offering greater flexibility compared to SM@RT’retrait.
It should be noted that these cardless withdrawal options are limited to the ATMs of the concerned bank. Thus, a Banque Populaire client will not be able to use SM@RT’retrait at a Crédit Mutuel ATM. To know all the conditions and possible limitations, it is recommended to consult a banking advisor.

Solutions like SM@RT’retrait and e-withdrawal significantly simplify cash withdrawals for users who do not have their bank card. By using only their mobile phone, clients can quickly and easily access their funds. These methods are particularly useful in emergency situations or when a bank card is forgotten.
However, these services are currently restricted to the ATMs of the concerned banks. This means it is necessary to go to a specific ATM to withdraw money. For optimal use of these services, it is advisable to fully understand the terms of use and discuss with a banking advisor for any additional information.
